Celebrated Hollywood Producer and Founder of MPOWER Pictures to Chair Beloit International Film Festival
I had my first opportunity to visit Beloit and the Beloit International Film Festival last year. I could sense the excitement that comes with a new venture and this excitement affects everyone involved. Not only is it a growing local community that is supporting the festival - but there was also more than 90 filmmakers present at the festival from throughout the U.S. and the world to add a special flavor to the four-day event.
When asked to serve as Honorary Chair of the 2009 BIFF, I immediately accepted because I like projects where everybody gets involved and builds on their beliefs - and challenges their cultural comfort zone. It is an important young festival from which we will be hearing a great deal in the future.
So I welcome you to the 2009 Beloit International Film Festival and encourage your participation. Whether as film lover, film maker, or film student—or wannabe in any of those categories—you will have a great time, you will be treated in a very special way by your hosts, and you will go away exhausted - as you should. More than 150 films, great parties, and BIFF’S emerging trademark BAD (Biff After Dark) parties where the audience gets to talk back to the directors, producers and casts of the films all contribute to a unique and rewarding experience.
