BIFF PRESENTS GRANTS TO EMERGING FILMMAKERS
Cinema à la Carte is the major fund-raising program for the Beloit International Film Festival. It includes a tasty array of culinary and cinematic celebrations designed to satisfy all the senses while it sustains The Beloit International Film Festival Fund for Emerging Filmmakers.
Two dozen dedicated supporters of BIFF generously open their kitchens and their homes to hundreds of guests for a series of spectacular succulent offerings, from brunch to dinner. The theme for each presentation is set by a particular film, from a golf evening with Caddy Shack and a gourmet Italian dinner with The Big Night to a mystery night with Murder on the Orient Express to a medieval English banquet with Lion in Winter. These entertaining gatherings range in size from six to sixty, and all offer a creative and exciting menu.
“You cannot imagine how much the grant means to me
right now. And I want you to know every penny will be
put into the new film, so the cycle of art will continue thanks to you.”
Iris Almaraz
First grant recipient
BIFF Fund for Emerging Filmmakers
The BIFF Fund for Emerging Filmmakers offered its first grants this past January. It is an indication of BIFF’s seriousness about film and about keeping creative juices flowing in this exciting art form. The Fund is designed to assist artists with equipment and resources to complete projects and launch new undertakings. For some, it will make participation in the Festival, the BIFF Film School, and other special Festival events, possible.
All filmmakers whose work has been accepted for screening during BIFF can apply for an Emerging Filmmaker grant. Grants are announced at the Awards Night, Jan 18 in Beloit.
